Vinay Thakur, born in 1951 at Nagpur, is a lawyer by education.
Switched tracks midway in 1985 and made his photography hobby into a profession.
He is self educated photographer and has attended photography courses in Rochester USA and
Large Format photography from “SINAR” of Switzerland to further educate self.
Has worked in 35mm, Square and 4” x 5” formats. He has taught photography to MFA and
Architecture students of Nagpur University. As an industrial and advertising photographer,
He has produced TV and Theatre commercials, won awards for launching Dinshaw’s iceream and
milk nationally. Has been an official NIKON School Mentor for last 10 yrs and has conducted
over 350 full day teaching workshops in India.
Has two unique coffee table books on Indian Court’s architecture, “Poem in Stone” on Nagpur
bench of Bombay High Court and “Architecture of Justice” a pictorial walkthrough, show
casing architecture of the Supreme Court and all the 36 High Court buildings of India, to his credit.
He is an avid Wildlife, nature photographer and also specialises in Portrait paintings.
He had his first solo exhibition of Mixed Media Paintings on Canvas, showcasing 80 paintings
using virtual and real acrylic paints in 2013. He also exhibited 100 of his photos in black and
white in a rare BW only display – “The Power of Monochrome” recently.
